Farewell & Cheers for now to a Legend of the Wine Industry.

The much loved wine maker and judge WILLIAM E CHRISTOPHERSEN Passed Away on the 26th of march 2008
from a serious illness after a brave and courageous fight.


William Christophersen had been producing wine for over thirty years in the Yarra Valley and achieved
an outstanding reputation in viticulture, not only as a winemaker and vineyard owner/manager but also as
a vineyard architect for cooler climate vineyards and as a Winetac Viticultural Examiner.


William also has had a long association with the Eltham Wine Guild, commencing as a fruit & grape winemaker in 1975. Prior to becoming professionally involved in the wine industry in 1988 with Lovegrove's of Cottles Bridge, he was the winner of 67 amateur awards at the Victorian Wines Show, including 14 Trophies. In addition, trophies and awards were also taken at the Lilydale Wine Show and the National
Wine Show at Maclaren Vale S.A. In 1984, his Kingstown Cabernet Sauvignon took out the Championship at the Canberra Vignerons Wine Show.


William
carried on a long career in judging wines both at Amateur and Professional levels.
He ranked amongst Australia’s most senior judges of Amateur wines, both grape and country fruit styles.
